Many people have issues with their teeth that they would love to correct, but the idea of having braces attached to your teeth for months or years just is not possible. Many of us recall the days of childhood taunting and would not want to put our children through that, or if you are a professional, the idea of braces may feel like it will compromise your influence. Whatever your reason for staying with an imperfect smile, Invisalign has a solution for you.

Invisalign is a system that is designed to straighten your teeth over time without having to attach any permanent or semi-permanent dental equipment. Invisalign uses a series of aligners. The aligners look like clear, thin plastic mouthguards. Several different sets of the aligners are made specifically for you, each slightly closer to the perfect smile than the last. The rigid aligners place gentle pressure on the teeth that are out of place and bring them into the proper alignment over time until you have achieved your dream smile!
If you know that you have teeth that are out of alignment, then you are already ahead of the game. Simply call our office to schedule a consultation today. At Ofir Orthodontics, we have the experience and knowledge to identify the right program to get you the perfect smile sooner.
Once you arrive for your consultation, we will review your medical and family history before performing a physical exam. We may take some x-rays of your teeth to ensure that we understand any underlying conditions before a treatment plan can be outlined. If you are a candidate for Invisalign, we can start by getting a digital image of your current tooth layout. This image is then uploaded to our computer system, and we can manipulate the images to get the teeth into the proper alignment, and in the proper order.
The series of images are then sent to a lab, where all of your aligners are specifically made to precisely fit your teeth in the different stages of your treatment plan.
Now, all that’s left is for you to do your part. Patients should wear the aligners for 20-22 hours a day. They should only be removed to eat, brush and floss your teeth (and clean the aligners), and when you play a contact type of sport. However, because they are clear, you don’t need to worry about taking them out before you give an important presentation, or before you go out for a night of dancing with friends. Invisalign is designed to help correct your teeth and allow you to still live your life without some of the negative stigmas that have been associated with other teeth straightening methods.
While the use of Invisalign is pretty straightforward, there are a few things to note when considering them.
Don’t leave them in the sun – If you take out the aligners, it is important to properly store them. When the aligners are left in direct sunlight, they can become discolored, or if they get too hot, they can bend or warp their shape. This means that you will have to come back in to get a new set of aligners made.
Don’t put them in your pocket – The aligners are designed to be in your mouth where they have some of the support of your teeth. When aligners are placed into your pocket, they can bend or warp, causing you to need another trip for new aligners.
Be careful when cleaning – If your aligners get damaged or scratched, they can become more visible. This means that people may be able to more readily notice that you are wearing them, or that they will give your teeth an unnatural appearance.
